ICG, the global alternative asset manager, today announced that it has appointed Andrea Serra as Head of Europe for ICG Strategic Equity (“ICGSE”), reporting to Ricardo Lombardi, the team’s Global Head.
Andrea joins ICG from Blackstone, where he spent 15 years, most recently as a Managing Director in the Tactical Opportunities group in New York, and prior to that, in the Private Equity division in London and New York. Andrea will be based in ICG’s London office and be part of the senior leadership group executing ICGSE’s investment strategy. He will also join ICGSE’s Investment Committee.
ICG Strategic Equity specialises in GP-led secondary transactions, and has invested over $10bn in the strategy since its inception in 2014. The team comprises 25 dedicated investment professionals across London and New York.
Benoît Durteste, CIO and CEO of ICG commented:
“Andrea’s appointment is further evidence of our long-standing thesis that having a team with direct private equity skills is essential to adequately evaluate and execute GP-led secondary transactions. We are pleased to welcome Andrea to the team, further strengthening our capabilities.”
Ricardo Lombardi, Global Head of Strategic Equity added:
“We are confident that having a built-for-purpose team and a specialised approach to the GP-led market will continue to bring us a unique edge, particularly as competition in the asset class intensifies.”
Andrea Serra, European Head of Strategic Equity, added:
“ICGSE’s strong reputation, scale, and exclusive focus on GP-led transactions make it a highly differentiated player in the secondaries market. I am excited to join a market leading team with a strong track record in a now well-established asset class that is poised for continued significant growth ahead.”
