Stephen’s role:
- Responsible for providing independent oversight of, and challenge to, the Company’s executive management
Stephen has over 25 years’ experience in the development capital and private equity industry as well as angel investing. He was the Founder CEO of the Business Growth Fund (BGF), the UK’s largest growth capital investor, from its launch in 2011 until July 2020, having previously spent over 10 years at CCMP Capital. He was Executive Chair of the BGF between 2020 and 2022, then serving as Non-Executive Chair until January 2023. He started his career in banking and has also worked as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of various growth companies.
His current Chair role at the British Business Bank, the UK government’s economic development bank (appointed in October 2023), and deep investment experience mean that he is well placed to contribute to the Board on matters relating to strategy and business development.
