Wooseok Jun leads bolstered ICG Asia Pacific team following retirement of Dr Chris Heine

Singapore
Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) announces that Dr Chris Heine retired at the end of 2018, completing the transition of his responsibilities to Wooseok Jun.

Wooseok, who was appointed Portfolio Manager and Head of Asia Pacific, Equity & Mezzanine in September 2018, joined ICG in 2013 as Head of Korea, Equity & Mezzanine. This followed a 17 year career leading financings and acquisitions of companies across the Asia Pacific region, 14 of which were in the private equity sector. Over the past six years he has developed the Korean market for ICG; building considerable expertise in the education industry and overseeing assets across Korea, Greater China and Singapore, as well as sitting on the Boards of several portfolio companies.

As Portfolio Manager and Head of Asia Pacific, Equity & Mezzanine, Wooseok leads a strong team of 11 local experts that has been bolstered in recent months with four investment hires – Escamillo Lin and Khee Hong Goh in Singapore, James Giannas in Sydney, Jun Suzuki in Tokyo – with an additional appointment due to be made in the early part of this year. ICG now has fully resourced local teams in every geography of its Asian operation, boosting local origination and portfolio value creation.

Benoît Durteste, Chief Executive officer of ICG, said:

“We are tremendously grateful to Chris for building our business in Asia over the past 13 years and wish him a very happy retirement. Our bolstered team, led by Wooseok, now enables us to extend our reach and reputation in the region with a truly local footprint.”

Wooseok Jun said:

“Asia is experiencing significant growth and ICG plans to play an increasing role in that expansion by financing the growth of the region’s leading private companies. The team and I are very excited by the opportunity to build on Chris’s legacy in what is our 18th year in Asia by sourcing great opportunities for our funds and delivering attractive returns to our investors.”
